# Safety and family updates

> The SOS page, Check on me, trip updates for family, and check-ins that tell people you've arrived.

## The SOS page

> [!NOTE]
>
> The SOS page is on **Mazer Pro** and **Elite**.

Open **SOS** from the Tools menu ([tripmazer.com/tools/sos](https://tripmazer.com/tools/sos)). It opens on what you need first: the local emergency number, with a **Call now** button, and the other emergency lines for that country. These come from a directory built into the app, so they still show if your connection drops. If you're somewhere we don't have verified numbers for, it shows 112, which reaches emergency services from most mobile phones.

Tap **What happened?** and choose what's going on: medical, accident, theft, lost passport, assault, disaster, stranded or something else. The page then gives you:

* **Steps to follow** for that situation
* **The nearest hospitals or police stations**, if you share your location
* **Your embassy**, for situations such as a lost passport or theft abroad
* **Official alerts** for the area
* **Phrases** to show or say

### Say it

Phrases appear in the local language, with how to pronounce them. **Speak** reads one aloud. **Show** fills the screen with large type, for a driver or a nurse, and keeps the screen awake.

### Show to driver

When your trip has a hotel, **Your stay** has a **Show to driver** button. It fills the screen with "Please take me to this address" in the local language, followed by your hotel's name and address.

For languages not written in Latin letters, such as Thai, Japanese, Arabic or Hindi, the hotel's name and address appear in that script too, using the version Google lists for that hotel. How much is local depends on the country: a Japanese address comes through in full, while in India the name is local and most of the street stays in Latin letters. Your saved address stays underneath, so you can check it's the right place. If Google has no local version, or we can't be sure it's your hotel, the card shows your saved address instead.

> [!TIP]
>
> Open the SOS page once when you arrive. The local version is then saved on your phone, ready for when you have no signal.

You can also call your hotel's front desk from **Your stay**.

### Your people

**Your people** are your trusted contacts. **Share where I am** sends them your location. They get where you are, never your passport or bookings.

### Before you go

**Before you go** shows your emergency kit for the trip: emergency numbers, phrases, your people, where you're staying, travel insurance, a passport copy and your embassy, with a way to add anything missing.

Add the people who should hear from you, like "Mum" or a partner, under **SOS → Trusted contacts**. Mazer uses these when you say "tell Mum…". If two contacts match, it asks which one you mean.

## Trip updates for family

> [!NOTE]
>
> Mazer sending updates itself is on **Mazer Elite**. On other plans, Mazer writes the message for you to send.

Set it up

Keep \[Mum] posted on my flights.

Try in Mazer →

Mazer makes an invite link for your contact. They choose WhatsApp, Telegram or email, or decline, and can reply STOP at any time. Once they accept, they hear when your flights:

* take off
* run 30 or more minutes late
* are cancelled or diverted
* land

They hear about **the flight, never you**: Mazer tracks no location, and doesn't cover trains, buses or hotels. Manage updates in chat or under **SOS → Trip updates**.

## Check-ins

Right now

Tell \[Mum] I've boarded.

Try in Mazer →

Later

Tell \[Mum] when I reach the hotel.

Try in Mazer →

On Elite, "tell Mum I've boarded" goes straight away, with no confirm step, to contacts who've accepted trip updates (the one you named, or all of them). Mazer tells you who was told and what they read, and nobody hears about the same moment twice.

![Notifications from Mazer on a trip: checked in to SQ 503 with the boarding pass ready, told Mum and Priya you landed at Changi, and a gate change for SQ 638](https://docs.tripmazer.com/images/app/on-trip-updates.webp)

What Mazer reports on a travel day (Elite). Sample data.

"Tell Mum when I reach the hotel" waits up to 12 hours for you to say you've arrived. Your position is never forwarded.

On WhatsApp and Telegram, Mazer also asks about 40 minutes before departure and 90 minutes after landing, with one-tap answers. On the web, the buttons are under **SOS → Trip updates**.

## Check on me

> [!NOTE]
>
> Check on me is on **Mazer Pro** and **Elite**.

Set a timer on the SOS page, anywhere from 15 minutes to 24 hours. When it runs out, Mazer asks "Are you OK?" (reply **FINE**). If you don't answer within 10 minutes, your accepted contacts hear when the timer ran out and where you set it, with a map link.

**After flights (Elite):** if there's no sign of you 3 hours after landing, Mazer asks. After 2 more hours, your contacts hear about the landing and your last sign. Saying "I'm fine" later tells them.
